Maybe because I grew up in "earthquake country," I appreciate the cracks and movement that clay creates as it changes, as it dries. I want to celebrate these changes and I want to leave them as a reminder of our fluidity and regeneration.

I respond to the clay as it buckles and cracks. I release control of the clay and respond to the surface with paint. It is metaphoric, it is all a part of a much larger spiritual journey.

I honor my process.
